MINNEAPOLIS – Gallaudet University senior guard/forward Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) was named to the 2018-19 women's basketball All-East region first team on Monday. This is Neild's second selection to the All-Region team, as she was selected to the third team last season.

This is the sixth time in program history that a GU player has been selected for all-region honors and the third time a Bison was on the first team. Neild is the first All-Region first team selection for Gallaudet since the 2010-11 season.

Neild is one of two players from the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) honored as Penn St.-Abington senior Shayna Rodriguez was named to the third team.

Neild, the 2018-19 NEAC Player of the Year and a two-time All-NEAC first team selection, is third in NCAA Division III women's basketball for scoring with 649 points. In fact, Neild has 160 more points than East Region Player of the Year Mia Morrison from William Smith College. Neild was named a finalist for the 2019 Jostens Trophy on March 1.

Neild is third in NCAA Division III for points (649), points per game (25.0), field goals made (226), fourth in free-throw percentage (88.5), field goal attempts (507) 12th in minutes played per game (38.03) and 31st in 3-point field goals made (74)

She averaged 25.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in 26 starts. She scored double digits in every game but one and scored 30 or more points in six games and 20 or more points in 20 games. Neild recorded 11 double-doubles and one triple-double. She scored a career best 39 points at Penn St.-Berks (Jan. 23) and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds and 10 assists vs. Penn College (Jan. 21) to go with 23 points for a triple-double.

The Bison finished the season as the NEAC tournament runners-up with a 17-10 overall record and 13-3 conference mark.

Players chosen to the All-Region team are eligible for All-American selection. The All-American men's and women's teams will be announced at the end of this week, in conjunction with the Division III basketball national championships.

Neild joins former Bison; Zamica Gage (2015-16 All-East 3rd team), Lindsay Stergio (2013-14 All-Atlantic 3rd team) and Easter Fa'afiti (2009-10, 2010-11 All-Atlantic 1st team) to have earned All-Region honors. Fa'afiti was also the 2009-10 Atlantic Region Player of the Year.

This is the 18th year has named an All-Region team and this year's All-America team will be the 22nd annual All-American selections. The All-American teams, along with those of the respective coaches' associations, are the only ones recognized in the NCAA record book.

There were 716 nominations for men's and women's basketball all-region consideration. Sports Information Directors (SID) in each region voted on the teams. Schools were contacted multiple times to make sure players were nominated by their respective SID. The All-Region teams include three teams of five players (two teams if the region has 40 or fewer teams), a player of the year, rookie of the year and coach of the year. The Northeast region has four teams due to the amount of schools in its area.
