CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving team won the Cazenovia Invitational here Saturday with 238 team points earned in 16 events.
The SUNY Delhi Broncos placed second with 202 points while the host Wildcats of Cazenovia College (98) took third and Herkimer County Community College placed fourth (36).
Bison freshman Barry McGrain III (Lakeville, N.Y.) was one of the top finishers for GU as he won three events and beat his personal best times in several events. McGrain won the 100- and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 56.90 seconds and 5:50.65, respectively. McGrain was also first in the 1,000-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 12:26.66.
Sealts matched McGrain with three individual wins as he came in first in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events with times of 55.62 and 2:00.60, respectively, and won the 200-yard IM (2:05.13).
Jala was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.67), behind Sealts by 29 seconds, and placed third in the 200-yard IM (3:36.69). Polanco was third in the 200-yard freestyle (3:11.65).
Sophomore Xiangming Liu (Dandong, China) finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (3:55.71) and third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:44.68).
- Rett was fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (8:47.21)
- Liu finished fourth in the 200-yard IM (4:15.26)
- Polanco finished fifth out of six in the 50-yard freestyle (36.73)
- Freshman Joel Sibert (Seattle, Wash.) was sixth (56.36) in the 50-yard freestyle
