COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving team fell further behind first-place SUNY Cobleskill here Saturday during the second day of the 2015 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships hosted by the Fighting Tigers.
Gallaudet, the defending NEAC champions, sit in fourth place with 167 team points out of four teams. SUNY Cobleskill increased its commanding lead to 455 points followed by Cazenovia College (265 points) and Wells College (222).
Junior Abdiel Davila-Cruz (Orlando, Fla.) finished third in the 400 IM with a time of 5:10.19 and fifth in the 100 backstroke (1:04.62) followed by Dary Berke in ninth (1:20.11) and junior Neal Matthews (Kent Island, Md.) in tenth (1:20.67). Sophomore Xuan Lin (Fulton, Ill.) placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:25.08). GU's 200 medley relay team of Berke, Lin, Davila-Cruz and Matthews was fourth overall with a time of 2:03.87. Sophomore David Bruno (Patchogue, N.Y.) and senior Bernardo Toledo (Río Piedras, Puerto Rico) finished eighth (2:36.55) and ninth (2:45.79), respectively, in the 200 freestyle.
The third, and final, day of the NEAC swimming and diving championships will take place Sunday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 5 p.m. in six different events.
