WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University athletics is proud to participate in the eighth annual NCAA Division III Week (April 1-7) in an effort to celebrate the impact athletics and Bison student-athletes have on our campus and the surrounding community. GU is joining nearly 450 Division III institutions and 43 conferences in this week’s celebration.
To help focus on the many student-athletes that represent Gallaudet athletics we will spotlight two different student-athlete each day this week. You will learn more about them as they express their feelings on what it is like to be a Division III student-athlete here at Gallaudet. Interviews were conducted by the Gallaudet Sports Information Office.
Sophomore Elina Rubinshteyn (Austin, Texas) completed her second season with the Gallaudet women's volleyball team. Rubinshteyn, an American Sign Language major, is on track to graduate in 2021.
In My Own Words: Elina Rubinshteyn
ER: I have so many goals after graduation but I am set on graduate school for a master’s in public health science and art. I want to travel the world after I graduate college. I truly want to see the world more before settling in life.
ER: I learned the fact that high school volleyball and college is completely different. Playing with teammates that came from different schools, different states is tough, but we slowly started to form into one team that plays for the Gallaudet University. Definitely a unique challenge experience.
Division III Week Fact of the Day
